Sales Tax Policy for Jim’s Books

How We Collect Sales Tax

Jim’s Books is located in Wyoming and is required by state law to collect sales tax on orders shipped to Wyoming addresses.
If your order ships outside Wyoming, no sales tax is charged.

Wyoming Sales Tax Rates

Wyoming’s statewide sales tax rate is 4%, and individual counties may add local taxes.
Because tax rates vary by county, the exact tax on your order is based on the shipping ZIP code you enter at checkout.

Your tax rate will be one of the following:

  • 6% – Counties with a 2% local tax
  • 5% – Counties with a 1% local tax
  • 4% – Sublette County (no local tax)

The correct rate is automatically applied during checkout.

Shipping Is Taxable in Wyoming

Wyoming requires sales tax to be collected on both:

  • The product price, and
  • The shipping cost

This will be reflected in your order total.

Why Your ZIP Code Matters

Some Wyoming ZIP codes cross county lines.
To ensure accuracy, we use the USPS primary city for each ZIP code to determine the correct county tax rate.

If you believe tax was applied incorrectly, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to review your order.

Out‑of‑State Orders

Orders shipped outside Wyoming are not subject to Wyoming sales tax.
Your state may require you to report use tax on online purchases—please check your local regulations.
